Spring Creek sure looks inviting but what the picture doesn't show is the wind.
Water levels were perfect and the sun was shining but, alas, no bugs. None. No caddis, no BWOs, nothing.
Water color was perfect too! Had to drag the bottom just to pull a fish or two.
Here is the first I got. Nothing of any size but still a trout and it still made me smile.
Then another. Had to take these pics with the phone as my camera ran out of juice.
Really pretty stream. No shortage of fishermen either. Guess everybody had the same Cabin Fever that I had.
Love these riffles. Usually don't catch large trout here but the little ones like the faster water.
Yep...like this one.
Wading didn't seem to be as tricky as it once was. Maybe my balance is getting better the older I get...Ha, ha, ha.
All the fish I got were healthy. There's no shortage of feed in this stream.
I only saw two or three fish raise during the entire three days of fishing.
Spoke with a couple other guys that were fishing and everyone wanted the Grannom Caddis but sadly, that hatch is over. Should have been some left over but none…
I kept trying to throw dries but no dice. In order to catch a fish I had to throw nymphs.
This pic is crapppppy but that is the only caddis I saw and it was perched on my rod when I was sitting on the stream bank eating lunch.
A cold front came through and dumped a bunch of rain along with a plunge in the temp. I'll blame that for the lack of top water action.
So that's the lesson learned. If you want to catch a fish or two you have to give them what they want, not what you want to fish with!
